About Averil
Averil was a wonderful daughter and sister and was born at home with her family around her. She was the cheeky, lovable, fun girl at the front of family and school photos, always with a smile and a song. Averil was academically brilliant and she loved writing and literature.

With boundless energy and endless enthusiasm, she was fiercely independent and spirited. She was witty and funny, but also deeply caring and loving, always showing a deep compassion for others that was humbling.

Averil had clarity of mind that left most of us spellbound. She loved language and had a unique way of using words to inspire others with her wisdom and courage.
This love of language was the main reason for applying to UEA, a prestigious University in Norwich that was renowned for its Literature and Language degrees.

Averil suffered with Anorexia Nervosa and was admitted into Addenbrooke's Hospital after completing her A-levels in September 2011. She was aged 18 with a BMI of 11.2.
Averil spent 11 months in the Unit recovering, and even in the depths of her illness she inspired those around her with her passion for life and her desire to fight this terrible illness.
She would leave words of motivation on the board at the Inpatient Unit - reminding the other patients how important it was to recover and stay alive.
